Java!
Instant powdered Pablo was the first coffee, I ever drank, so different from the iced coffee I used to purchase from the local store. Pablo a world away from what is on offer today. If we are talking instant there is freeze dried, air dried, decaffeinated and the special green variety, coffee that makes the consumer believe they are saving the environment. The last ten years have witnessed a vast growth in the consumption of brewed coffee, cafes have moved on from just flat white which used to be brewed in a drip filter, percolator or coffee press, everyone thought that method was fancy. I loved my fist coffee pot, made of metal coated in cream paint with embossed flowers the glass top was great for watching the coffee bubble up, the aroma was awesome, I think I brewed coffee only for the smell I was never really fussed on the taste.
Drip filters became very popular with glass jugs, great for entertaining, though if you removed the jug from the stand it did not stay hot for long.
The next fad led by the suits in the city, the many and varied ways you could have a coffee, cappuccino, latte, skinny, decaf, soy, short black long black sounds like a couple of socks. The list is endless in any café you will see an extensive array of available coffees and the exorbitant price you pay to wander round with a small, medium or tall cardboard cup. Owning your own coffee machine was all the rage, with a real milk steamer mostly they were big cumbersome machines that appeared to take an eternity to get to one coffee let alone one for each of your guests.
In no time the world was awash with coffee machines of all shapes and sizes, and suddenly we moved from ground to pods a small capsule full of finely ground coffee, or so they say how would we know, it could be full of powdered Pablo! Helped by a milk steamer or milk frother you are a regular barista. These coffee pods come in all manner of flavors, you can have whatever takes your fancy in just minutes. That is if you can find the pods and, you guessed it, not all the pods fit all machines and not all brands have all the flavors, so the purchase of such a machine needs lots of research.
Where ever you look there is a coffee shop, if you work in the right spot a mobile coffee van will call at your door, on your way to work and running late you can drive through one of the many roadside coffee bars, here you can get an even bigger cardboard cup.
Everyone loves their coffee made a particular way I think what they love more is to have their coffee on the go in a cardboard cup!
